GPL WEEK TWENTY-EIGHT WRAP-UP; Kotoko gives up league, Olympics shows resilience, Hearts left out of the chase whereas WAFA annihilates holders

Round twenty-eight of the Ghana Premier League ended today with all eight league fixtures running down at various centers. The league now opens up for all to fight for especially the battle to survive relegation.
 
It remains clear, after this fixture that, only Bolga All Stars are confirmed relegated some weeks ago and are waiting for the other two sides to join them in the second-tier football next season.
 
The top half remain keenly contested as survival remains within reach to every club from the results earned today since every clubs destiny to survival the league now returns in her own hands before the final two fixtures.
 
Aduana Stars remains resolute in winning this year's league after losing it out narrowly last year to Wa All Stars when they cemented their position atop of the league log by beating relegated side, Bolga All Stars by four goals to one. Mercurial midfielder, Winful Cobbinah scored from a well-taken free kick to send the "Rainbow Boys" into the lead before Joshua Otoo got the second for Hearts of Oak just for Joseph Esso to cushion one for the "Abontua Abontua" side.
 
Kumasi Asante Kotoko continued their disappointed season after starting so well when they lost to Bechem United via Hadji Saddiq Abubakar's late winner at the Nana Gyeabour Park in Bechem. This take the "Porcupine Warriors" to two winless streak after the assumption of the league from the WAFU break but still remains fourth on the league table.
 
Berekum Chelsea lost heavily to strugglers, Liberty Professions at the Alhaji Sly Tetteh Park at Dansoman by four goals to two. Three players scored brace on the day as WAFU hero, Stephen Sarfo got all for the visitors whereas Bernard Arthur and Michael Ampadu shared the four goals the "Scientific Soccer Lads" scored among themselves.
 
Obuasi Ashanti Gold SC continues their resergence to survive the premier league after a shambolic start to the season when they comfortably beat Tema Youth by two goals to nil at the Len Clay Sports Stadium. Hans Kwofie enhanced his chances of winning the goal king by scoring the opener for the "Miners" as his tally rises to thirteen for the season for Shafiu Mumuni to seal the winner for Ashanti Gold SC.
 
Surprisingly, Accra Great Olympics picked up all three points available at the Nduom Sports Complex when they won against Elmina Sharks by a solitary goal through Daniel Appiah to revive hopes that, Olympics can survive relegation. The win takes them to thirty-three points with just three points separating them from the drop zone with two games to spare to end the season.
 
Medeama SC succumbed to Inter Allies at the El-Wak Sports Stadium by two goals to nil.
 
Wahab Ackwei opened the scoring from the spot in the first half and Hasmin Musa got the second for Karim Zito's side in the other half of the game.
This weekends results means that, all is yet to be played for with only two games left to end the season.
 
Only Bolga All Stars know their fate of returning to the second-tier football next season with the rest of the clubs either fighting to avoid the drop or fighting to win the league which Aduana Stars have a large percentage chance of winning.
 
League games returns on Wednesday for the penultimate round of matches which might determine the fate of clubs in the league this season.
