Randy Abbey tells GFA to "conduct research to determine why sponsors retreat"

The President of Hearts of Lions, Randy Abbey has articulated that the Ghana Football Association should research on the withdrawal of the Ghana premier league sponsorship deals.

The country's top flight division has been without a headline sponsor in the past three seasons after First Capital Plus resiled.

But on Thursday morning, the FA signed $10million mega sponsorship deal with Zylofon Cash to become the headline sponsor for five seasons.

Nevertheless, the former Executive Committee member of the GFA, Randy Abbey has asked the football association to undertake a research to find out why sponsors terminate contact with the Ghana premier league.

"As a student of evidence base research, I don't think it's intelligent for the Ghana Football Association to sit in the confine of their room, and give reason why they are, or not getting sponsorship," the Host of Good Morning Ghana told Nhyira FM.

"Nobody at the FA has not taken it upon himself to find out why the premier league has gone three seasons without a headline sponsor."

"Let's stop assuming and conduct a research because sometimes our  assumptions might not be the problem," Randy enumerated.

"You need to be speaking with the various stakeholders to find out the shortfalls which would serve as evidence backed by research," he said.

"The research will go beyond and tell you why there's that perception of corruption. You will get to know some of the bad practices which brought the corrupt perception and work on it," Randy Abbey added.
