Kotoko coach C.K Akonnor asks for more signings despite bulk purchase

Asante Kotoko head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has requested for new players to be signed despite the bulk purchase at their disposal.

Following the Confederation Cup campaign, the Porcupine Warriors have signed eleven new players to their squad.

But C.K Akonnor has asked for more players to improve his team after a hefty signings.

"We're looking forward to strengthen and improve the team. But it's difficulty to get the players we're interested. So we're looking forward to sign expatriate players. And that is very difficult so we need to take our time," C.K Akonnor told Oyerepa FM.

"I would be elated if we can get some of the local players that we've targeted but most of the clubs are unwilling to release them. That is why we intend to look outside. That is also very risky because you wouldn't know much about the player. But we're working on it. And I think by the close of the transfer timeline we'll get a good outcome," he ended.

Asante Kotoko are preparing in Secondi Takoradi as they wait to see their counterpart in the Confederation Cup qualifying round.
