We will qualify - Ghana U20 star Samuel Atta Mensah

Teenage sensation Samuel Atta Mensah believes the Black Satellites of Ghana have what it takes to eliminate the Young Squirrels of Benin and advance to the African Championship scheduled for next year.

Jimmy Cobblah’s side won 3-1 at home on Saturday with their opponents putting in a spirited first-half performance and even ended the half with a goal lead.

But Atta Mensah, a member of the Black Satellites team believes his side are in a pole position to triumph over the West Africans.

“It’s true we (Ghana) won against Benin on Saturday but that was without a fight because our opponents really gave us a very difficult time especially in the first-half,” recalled the talented Wa All Stars’ player.

"But the technical team and my colleagues did very well to resist their every effort. Everybody ran, got stuck in and fought hard hence the favourable result.” Mensah told Kickgh.com.

“They are strong, tough and quick,” said Atta Mensah of the Young Squirrels.

“We have to use our heads and try to keep the ball in the next encounter. They (Benin) wouldn’t like it when we (Satellites) dictate the pace as evidenced in the second-half of the first leg. They prefer to play a physical game and attack using the flanks, so the key for us will be to stay patient, defend the ball at our feet and not to be sucked into the kind of game they want to play. I strongly believe We (Satellites) will edge past them and qualify for the African Championship.”

Atta Mensah isn’t one of those midfielders that simply look to 'get and give,’ he’s always searching for a forward pass to open up an opponent.

His exquisite ball control in tight spaces and creative instincts enable him to do this on a frequent basis.
