Egyptian Premier League outfit Wadi Degla have been heavily linked with the signing of former Ghana star Asamoah Gyan, however the rumors were quickly rebuked by the Egyptian club.
The 33-year-old striker is the Ghana’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals after earning 106 caps for his country. He has also represented them in three World Cups as well as six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
Gyan signed for Indian Super League on a free transfer after the end of his contract with Kayserispor of Turkey in summer 2019.
However, he has been without a club after his spell came to an end in January 2020.
Ghanaian reports claimed that the former Sunderland forward is on the verge of agreeing a deal with Degla, who have been struggling in the Egyptian Premier League this season.
Nonetheless, sources can confirm rumors about Gyan being close to agreeing terms with Cairo-based club have no foundation.
The 2020/2021 Egyptian Premier League season is expected to start in October and with Wadi Degla making a recent coaching change and battling to stay in the league, it is highly unlikely that a move of that calibre takes place.
Gyan spent the 2018/2019 season in the Turkish Super Lig with Kayserispor where he participated in a total of 17 matches scoring four goals and not registering any assists.
