Asante Kotoko travel to Mauritania to face Nouadhibou FC in their first leg of the Preliminary rounds of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Asante Kotoko is in a new era under Nana Yaw Amponsah who has changed the running of the club into a more viably and productive entity and are starting a new adventure in Africa against a relatively known Nouadhibou FC.

Asante Kotoko have not had a blistering start to the season after drawing two of their league games against Eleven Wonders and Berekum Chelsea in the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
However, they have had a competitive game to count on, unlike their opponents who are yet to have to have their season started, which comes good to usher Asante Kotoko into this encounter.
FC Nouadhibou will come as a tough costumers for Asante Kotoko as they've won the league three times on a trot in the last three seasons.
In Africa competitions, Nouadhibou FC have been good at home which will give them a source of energy to get a good result against a "giant" in Africa who have not fared well in Africa in the last five games on the road.
Both sides will have a fully functional available squad to select from with Youssouf Ibroihim Djoudja, Drissa Kouyate, Fouaz Faiddini, Mostapha Diaw, Cheikh Moulaye Ahmed, who are the backbone of the Nouadhibou FC side available for Amir Abdou to select from.
Habib Mohammed who picked the team's Man of the Match award in Asante Kotoko's last game against Berekum Chelsea would not be available together with Augustine Okrah did not travel with the team.
Habib is suspended for this encounter whiles Augustine Okrah is in Morocco to complete a move to RS Berkane.
Abdul Latif Anabila and Fabio Gama have not gained full fitness to make this trip with Asante Kotoko but Maxwell Konadu will have most of his trusted players on the battle field.
Asante Kotoko are likely to start with Kwame Baah- Christopher Nettey, Abdul Ganiu Ismail, Mubarik Yussif, Ibrahim Imoro- Emmanuel Keyekeh, Kwame Adom Frimpong, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Godfred Asiamah- Ibrahim Osman and Kwame Opoku.
The winner of this tie will play one of Vipers FC from Uganda or Al Hilal Omdurman from Sudan.
