Asante Kotoko picked up a vital away goal at Mauritania in their Preliminary rounds of the CAF Champions League against FC Nouadhibou in a battle that ended 1-1 at the Stade Cheikha Ould Boïdiya in Nouakchott.

Goals from Ibrahim Osman for Asante Kotoko and an equalizer by Hemeya Tanjy for Nouadhibou FC all in the first half.

Ibrahim Osman gave Asante Kotoko the early goal in the game at 5 minutes of the game when he latched onto a ball from Emmanuel Gyamfi inside the box to beat the Nouadhibou FC goalkeeper, Drissa Kouyate at the bottom corner of the net.
Asante Kotoko controlled the early exchanges of the game as if they played comfortably at home.
Nouadhibou broke on an attack and got a dubious penalty kick when a leading ball struck the stomach of defender Mubarik Yusif but referee called that to be a penalty of which Hemeya Tanjy converted to level the scoring on the 22nd minute.
Both teams could not make a proper incursion in attack though Asante Kotoko saw most of the ball in the first half.
Emmanuel Keyekeh and goalscorer Ibrahim Osman got injured in the death of the first half which ended 1-1.
Both players got substituted in the second for Muniru Sulley and Evans Adomako to replace them respectively.
Asante Kotoko manned the second half and made position attacking threats but failed to make them count in the final half of the field.
Evans Adomako and Kwame Opoku missed chances to leave the home side with a draw.
The game ended 1-1 in a game that left officiating from Gaoussou Kane of Mali with so much to be desired.
Asante Kotoko return home with a goal advantage as they take on Nouadhibou FC in a week later at the Accra Sports Stadium.
