MATCH REPORT: Asante Kotoko hard-fought away draw in vain as ES Setif progress to CAF Confederation Cup group stage Featured

The Porcupine Warriors failed to progress to the group stage of the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup despite an away stalemate with ES Setif in the reverse leg tie on Sunday evening.

 
 

Asante Kotoko have been eliminated from this year's edition of the CAF Confederation Cup on a 2-1 aggregate to Algerian giants ES Setif at the 8th May Stadium.

 
The homesters staged an intense pressure on the Porcupine Warriors in the early minutes but goalkeeper Razak Abalora denied them from scoring with magnificent saves.
 
Winger Emmanuel Gyamfi tormented the backline of the home side but Kotoko's upfront comprises of Naby Keita and Kwame Opoku couldn't make good use of it.
 
After the break, Kwame Adom Frimpong, Godfred Asiamah and Mudasiru Salifu were introduced as replacement for Fabio Gama, Naby Keita and Emmanuel Sarkodie respectively.
 
The Porcupine Warriors looked comfortable in the second half as they possessed the game and created chances.
 
Midfield gem Latif Anabila nearly broke the deadlock with a long range strike but his effort was fisted out by the goalkeeper of ES Setif.
 
Asante Kotoko ended the match with a 0-0 draw after a late effort from the ES Setif was saved by goalkeeper Razak Abalora.
 
ES Setif have advanced to the group phase of ten 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup on a 2-1 aggregate.
