Accra Hearts of Oak skipper Fatawu Mohammed has stated their target and ultimate aim is to clinch the CAF Champions League.

The 'Phobians' achieved that feet in the year 2000, and Fatawu Mohammed will want to lead this current set of players to achieve same for the second time in the club's history.

 

The Rainbow Club kicked off their 2021 campaign with a resounding 2-0 victory over Guinean side Club Industriel de Kamsar at the Ohene Gyan Stadium last Sunday.

 

The Crocodiles gave the Ghanaian champions a very tough game but two late goals from Kofi Kordzi and youngster Salim Adams inspired Hearts of Oak to the next round of which they face Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club.

 

Speaking to Asempa FM after the game, the experience lateral disclosed categorically clear that, their target is to win the Champions League and admitted by saying they don't know much about their next opponent but will hope to pick up before the game day. He said; 

 

"Every team is targeting the trophy so as far as we Hearts of Oak are in the competition we are also targeting the trophy.” He told Asempa FM

 

"Honestly I’ve not watched them (WAC) but we will watch them and get to know their style of play, their strengths and their weaknesses that we can capitalize on.”

 

Hearts of Oak will play Wydad Athletic Club on October 17 in Accra before the return encounter in Cassablanca on the 22nd October.
