The Porcupine Warriors are in pole position of acquiring the services of the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League season top scorer for their next season's campaign, can exclusively report.

Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko are in advanced talks with Ugandan top-flight outfit Uganda Revenue Authority (URA FC) over the possible acquisition of Steven Mukwala in the ongoing transfer window.

The 22-year-old continues to be the chief target for the Baba Yara Stadium outfit having made several attempts to snatch him last year from Vipers FC before his switch to URA FC. can exclusively report that management of Asante Kotoko commenced negotiations with URA FC for Mukwala as Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has hinted to beef up his frontline options with the acquisition of the prolific frontman as he is ready to offload some dead wood attackers in their folds in order to make room for the formation of vulnerable attacking upfront.

Mukwala expected to arrive in Ghana in the coming days to complete his three-year move subject to a mandatory medical examination to the two-time CAF Champions League title holders.
In 2019, Mukwala was loaned at Maroons FC for the new season 2019-2020 where he has scored 13 goals in 22 matches to clinch the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League golden boot award.
His speed and power to finish the ball has caught the attention of several clubs last year including Asante Kotoko but Uganda Rivers Authority (URA FC) won the race to acquire him on a two-year deal with an option of renewal.
Mukwala will become the third Ugandan international to play for Asante Kotoko after Joseph Ochaya and George Abege.
He ended the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season as the top scorer of Uganda Rivers Authority (URA FC) after notching fourteen (14) goals in 24 matches.
Mukwala is currently a member of the senior national team of Uganda. He featured in their 0-0 draw with Guinea in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Asante Kotoko are currently busy on the transfer market for strategic signings and have already signed Clinton Opoku, Richmond Lamptey, Maxwell Agyemang and Samuel Boateng.
The Porcupine Warriors have also reached an agreement with Medeama SC with the signing of duo Richard Boadu and Samuel Appiah in a deal worth Gh¢ 190,000 pending an announcement.
