At Hearts of Oak, there are players who constantly make headlines, like Salifu Ibrahim and Daniel Afriyie Barnie, Richard Attah,  and others who fly under the radar because they supposedly lack charisma and star quality. But many of those so-called unfashionable players end up serving vital roles for their respective teams.

Kofi Kordzi belongs to the second category. His performance in Hearts' game against C.I. Kamsar has heightened the hopes of the Hearts faithful going into the 2021/22 Ghanaian football season.

Though it was a difficult game for the Phobians especially in the first half, the ease with which he effortlessly worked the forward areas suggested he’d been a fixture there for a while.

The burly striker is tipped to have a bright future with the club after impressing in the game against the Guineans. Well, while he may not be the marquee signing that some Hearts fans were after but he could be an important piece in Samuel Boadu's puzzle.

The forward has the potential to elevate an inconsistent and occasionally misfiring Hearts side. A theme running throughout their games last season was their inability to break down inferior opponents, resulting in dropping valuable points.

Kordzi will help to address this issue. He specialises in finding openings where others can’t, unlocking stubborn defences with his touch, vision and trickery. He always wants the ball and isn’t afraid of losing it. He is the kind of forwards who relishes one-on-one situations, challenging their opposite number to a personal battle and backing themselves to win.

Unsurprisingly for a guy with such a trusty right foot he has an absolute thunderbolt or two in his locker, and one of the great joys, when fans can attend matches at the Baba Yara Sports stadium again, will be the collective cry of 'shoooooot' should he receive the ball on the edge of the box if the opportunity avails itself.

When in possession, Kofi Kordzi has that tremendous gift of being able to travel with the ball whilst at the same time keeping it under his complete control and shielding it away from his opponent. The way he links play between midfield and attack is a joy to watch- easy on the eye!

He has everything: he’s good on the ball, he scores goals and he helps the team. His quick movements are crucial in ‘killing’ the opposition defenders. You just have to give him a metre of space and he’ll hurt you.

With his pace and the ability to go past defenders with effortless ease, he’s a hugely challenging proposition for any defender to handle in a 1v1 situation. An unselfish player, he likes to get in positions to assist his teammates and create chances.

Yet perhaps most impressive of all is his football intelligence allied to an unperturbable temperament, which enables him to display all the above talents in even the most frenetic of scenarios when time and space are at a premium. To top it all, he is a tireless worker, rarely staying still for a second.

The fans as expected were effusive in their praise of his performances but it would be remiss of them to foist their hope on him after just two games. Kofi Kordzi has made a sensational introduction to life at Hearts and with his immense talent and prowess, he would surely thrive on his second coming.

He only needs the support of all within the club and they will know how smart a business it was to lure him to the club.
