Garry Rodriguez last gasp strike gave the islanders their first win.

Cape Verde beat Liberia 2-1 in Accra on Thursday to move to the second position on the table in Group C with four points, two behind leaders Nigeria.

Liberia used the Accra Sports Stadium as their adopted home ground.

Garry Rodrigues scored a superb 92nd minute winner as Cape Verde came from a goal down to beat hosts Liberia.

Liberia had gone ahead at the stroke of halftime through Van-Dave Harmon.

However, Cape Verde who looks more determined levelled just seven minutes after the restart when Jamiro Monteiro smashed the ball into the roof of the net after a cross from the left was comfortably headed down for him.

They showed class at goal and eventually got the winner in the 92nd minute when Rodrigues struck a shot from outside the area after some build up.

The Central African Republic (CAR) are tied to the bottom on the table with just a point.
