The Black Stars inflicted a narrow 1-0 triumph over South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium to finish as winners of Group G and also advanced into the playoff round of the qualifiers.

Skipper Andre Ayew converted a 31st minute penalty which was won by Daniel Amartey after he was pushed down in the box by Bafana Bafana defender De Reuck- an incident which has brought series of controversies in the past weeks.
SAFA after the game, have accused the GFA and the referee of the day, Maguette Ndiaye from Senegal for maltreatment and match-fixing having officially reported the issue to FIFA for immediate and fair investigations.
The Ghana FA however, came out with a long statement also to rubbish SAFA claims describing it as totally false with no any tangible evidence.
Meanwhile, FIFA after hearing from both associations have referred the issue to their  Disciplinary Committee last Tuesday for investigation process to begin with the actual truth of the matter yet to be determined.
Speaking in an interview, the one time-capped Bafana Bafana midfielder, has disclosed Ghana will still defeat his country South Africa should there be a rematch and will even be  with more goals this time having heavily hit out at their head Hugo Broos for his poor selection. He told iDiski Times;
"If the match was ordered by Fifa to be replayed, I think Ghana would win it again, by more goals this time around."
“I don’t know if Hugo Broos thinks he is trying to prove a point by omitting players who deserve to play in the national team. You cannot tell me that Andile Jali and Lyle Lakay are not good enough to play for the national team."
“If we have the same approach, I think Ghana will defeat Bafana Bafana again in a replay situation. They had more threatening chances in the game we played."
“Players like Nyiko Mobbie struggled to keep up with the Ghanaian attack. De Reuck and Siyanda Xulu were in sixes and sevens as a centre-back pairing, it just did not work out for them, they were lucky not to concede more goals."
“I felt that the selection of players by Hugo Broos was off the mark, especially considering that many of the players he picked were inexperienced and their lack of big-match experience showed in that game.” He concluded
