The Teranga Lions of Senegal were held to a draw by Guinea in their second Group B fixture at the Kouekong Stadium on Friday.

The 2019 runners-up were held to a 0-0 draw by the Elephants National at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The game had a slow start in the opening minutes in front of the sparse crowd in Bafoussam.

The Teranga Lions, who are seeking their first Nations Cup title for Senegal, had the chance to hit the front when their skipper Sadio Mane was brought down by Ibrahima Sory Conté just behind the 18-yard box.

However Bouna Sarr's free-kick on the 17th minute was deflected off the Guineans wall as the Senegalese still struggled to dominate the first half.

Senegal goalkeeper Seny Dieng was forced to action after 30 minutes when Morgan Guilavogui latched on to Ilaix Moriba's inviting pass in the box.

After scoring the penalty as the Zimbabweans were beaten 1-0 on the opening day, Senegal captain Mane looked furious as the teams went into the break on even terms.

The defense of Guinea were busy from the start of the second-half as keeper Aly Keita saved well from Abdou Diallo's header.

Aliou Cissé's side continued to search for the opener in the second half but were let down by their finishing when Sarr latched on to a pass from impressive Mane before turning Guinea's left-back Ibrahima Conte but failed to drill home on the 67th minute.

Bouna Sarr, who lacked the finesse and cutting edge in front of goal, blasted away a free-kick with 10 minutes remaining.

Guinea's Ibrahima Sory Conté could also be guilty of spurning a free-kick in the dying embers of the game.

As a result, Senegal and Guinea are on top of Group B with 4 points each after their win over Zimbabwe and Malawi respectively on last Monday.

Zimbabwe will play Malawi in other group fixture.
