Stuart Baxter confirms South Africa friendly with Ghana

South Africa National Team head coach Stuart William Baxter has revealed that there's been an agreement between Ghana and South Africa for a friendly game in Dubai to prepare both countries for the AFCON 2019 in Egypt.

The 65-year-old British believes the friendly encounter will provide good grounds for both countries to partner each other for their respective group opponents.

The former Vissel Kobe gaffer says the game, if sanctioned, will be a good test for both countries as both seek to quench their AFCON title drought with Ghana last winning it in 1982 and South Africa in 1996 when they hosted it.

"Yes we will try and play a game in Dubai," Baxter confirmed.

"We are just waiting for the paper works between these two associations but we've already agreed on a game and I think it will be an interesting one for both nations.

"Ghana is a West African country and we'll be playing against Cote D'Ivoire so Ghana is a very good spying partner for us and I know they also need a good spying partner for their campaign," he added.

South Africa are in Group D with Cote D'Ivoire, Morocco and Namibia whereas Ghana are in Group F with Benin, Guinea Bissau and Cameroon.
