Richard Ofori named Maritzburg United new captain

The South African club have named the Black Stars goalie as their new captain for match day for the new season.

Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori has been appointed the new skipper of Maritzburg United for the 2019/20 season.
The 25-year-old joined the South African club on a three-year deal in 2017 and made 34 appearances in all competition last season.
"We are going to have our match-day captain which will be Richard Ofori,” Coach Eric Tinkler told the club's official website.
“Like I said before, there is very little guarantee to any player that he will be in the starting line-up – that’s the type of competition we want to create.
“So selecting a captain was always going to be difficult. Richard, a national team goalkeeper for Ghana, is definitely our first-choice goalkeeper, so it made sense to appoint Richard as our match-day captain.
South African international Nazeer Allie was named the club's general captain..
Ofori has capped nineteen (19) times for the senior national team of Ghana.
