'Deteriorated' Baba Yara Sports Stadium CLOSED DOWN; Kotoko & King Faisal asked to look for new home venue

The multi-purpose Stadium in Kumasi has shutdown for a major refurbishment.

National Sports Authority (NSA) have announced the temporal closure of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium with an immediate effect.
 
The home venue of Asante Kotoko and King Faisal has been closed down for a major facelift for the first time after twelve years.
 
According statement from the National Sports Authority, the edifice has been closed temporary for renovations ahead of the 63rd Independence Day Anniversary Celebration

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium hasn't been renovated since 2008 when it hosted the Africa Cup of Nations.
 
The Stadium has hosted two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments — 2000 and 2008 — and FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
 
Asante Kotoko, King Faisal and other users of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium have been asked to look elsewhere for their home matches.
