The maiden edition of the Division One Super Cup competition was completed last Saturday at the Madina Astro Turf with Skyy FC emerging as champions after humbling Tema Youth in a long penalty shootouts.

Astonishingly, none of these two teams secured qualification into next season's topflight football but managed to finish as runners up in both zone two and three behind Gold Stars and Accra Lions with the newly promoted GPL sides all missing out on the giant trophy.

Both teams engaged each other in a fully intensed encounter which finished in a 1-1 stalemate after extra time but Skyy FC furthered on to win 7-6 on penalties to clinch the tournament.
The Yellow and Blacks, broke the deadlock in as early as 15 minutes in the game through Ebenezer Mamatah, but their lead got cancelled later thanks to a header from Emmanuel Owusu who netted just on the stroke of half time to level things up for his side but subsequently missed his spot-kick in the shootouts.
Though both goals were produced at half time, the game failed to record any again despite the game's high intensity which even moved into extra time.
The penalty shootouts was such a long one reaching the eighth taker, that is when Reginald Lartey missed for Tema Youth and Ernest Owusu connected the winning kick expertly to propel his side to the trophy.
However, Ghana Premier League newbies Accra Lions also edged out Sarmatex FC for the second time in the competition to emerge as the bronze winners
