Hearts of Oak youngster Isaac Mensah has disclosed that, he really needed that goal against Liberty Professionals to prove them wrong when the two sides met in Dansoman two weeks ago.
The talented forward revealed his innermost happiness after netting against the Scientific Soccer lads, who had earlier rejected his service after he had gone for a trial at the Carl Reindorf Park some time ago before joining the Rainbow club.
He told GTVSports+;
“When I was on the bench too, I was studying the game but first of all you know I have tried out at Liberty before.
“So I told myself that whenever I meet this team, I will beat them. Because I went there [Liberty Professionals ]but they did not sign me."
“It is like a challenge between me and them. So I told myself that if I go there, I will do something and they will see that, we made a mistake for not signing this boy. So that game I was to score them so when I got that goal I was so very happy.”
The ex- Nkoranza Warriors forward has been in a fine form in the previous weeks scoring winning goals against Ebusua Dwarfs and Liberty Professionals in both week 15 and 16.
Again, he had another great opportunity to steal headlines in the Superclass last Sunday after positioning himself really well to win a penalty for the Phobians but had his effort denied by the Kotoko goalie.
Hearts of Oak currently sit 6th on the league table with 23 points and will host the Academy boys, WAFA in match-week 17 of the Ghana Premier League.
