Black Satellites beat Uganda to clinch their fourth U20 AFCON trophy Featured

The Black Satellites of Ghana are the champions of the Total Africa U-20 Championship after humbling the Hippos of Uganda 2-0 to in the final at the Stade Olympic.


The Ugandans commenced the game explosively looking to unsettle the Satellites after a long pass was laid to their danger man Derrick Kakooza who chipped over the Ghanaian goalie but went over the crossbar. Just unlucky! 

Ghana with their first incursion in the game after breaking on a counter, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku sent in a pass to Daniel Afriyie whose long range effort was beyond the reach of Precious Boah resulting into a goalkick.
The Black Satellites nearly broke the deadlock on the 10th minute after both Philemon Baffour and Emmanuel Essiam's effort went off the crossbar at the same time creating a big relieve on the Ugandans and a frustration on the faces of the Ghanaians.
Ghana on another break, Samuel Abbey combined with Daniel Afriyie on the left flanks but the Hearts of Oak youngster had his long range effort blocked by the Hippos back line.
It has been Ghana all over in the opening twenty minutes of the game but finding the back of the net is their only worry now after Abdul Fatawu Issahaku had his free kick collected calmly by goalkeeper Jack Komakech.
Finally, coach Karim Zito's men broke the deadlock of the game after skipper Daniel Afriyie connected from Abdul Fatawu Issahaku's corner with a scorpion acrobatic kick to hand Ghana the lead in Nouachott.
The Hippos having gone down begun to push with so much purpose upfront, Kakooza uses his strength to create a space for Ivan Asaba whose long range strike went off the crossbar. 
In the second half, the Ugandans came really strong in a quest to get the equaliser but the relaxed Ghanaian back line ensured they were always first to the ball winning all the one on one incidents.
The Satellites presses high to snatch the ball from Uganda in midfield, accomplished by Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, he sent in a fine mirror pass to Boah who sent in a ground cross to Daniel Afriyie making no mistake by grabbing his second goal of the night. 
The Cranes feeder team will still not give up after going two goals down attacking with so much confidence, Ivan Asaba raced his way into the box and was brought down but referee waves play on.
The Ugandans with another attempt, a decent cross from the right flanks falls on Steven Sserwada who headed wide resulting into a goal kick.
The Hippos were all over creating all the decent opportunities trying to get back on level terms but all their efforts was halted by the resolute Ghanaian back line.
The Black Satellites ensured their lead and emerged victorious in the end. This is the fourth time they are winning this Championship after clinching it in 1993, 1999, 2009 and this time.
