President Akuffo Addo congratulates Black Satellites for AFCON U20 triumph Featured

The Head of State, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo has sent a congratulatory message to the entire contingent of the Black Satellites that handed the nation a huge birthday present by winning the 2021 edition of the Africa Youth Championship staged in Mauritania.

 
 

Ghana recorded a resounding 2-0 victory over the Hippos of Uganda at the Olympic Stadium in Nouachott to clinch the country's glory in this tourney having won in 1993, 1999, 2009 and now, kind courtesy a brace from captain Daniel Afriyie Barnieh.

 
The Hearts of Oak youngster broke the deadlock of the game with a scorpion acrobatic kick in the first half before doubling the lead on the 51st minute to wrap things up for coach Karim Zito and his men.
 
Now after that hard fought victory, the first gentleman of the land, H.E Nana Akuffo Addo took to Twitter to express his gratitude to the boys for the good work done and has stated he's expecting the entire team at the Flagstaff house in the coming days.
 
"Congratulations to the Black Satellites for winning Ghana’s 4th AFCON U-20 trophy. Thoroughly deserved victory, and they’ve made Mother Ghana proud. What a way to celebrate our 64th Independence Anniversary", the President twitted.
 
“Kudos to the team, and I look forward to receiving the playing, technical and management teams to Jubilee House."
 
The entire team of the Black Satellites is expected by Ghanaians at the Kotoka International Airport by the close of today.
