Newly named Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Mustapha Ussif has congratulated the Black Satellites for presenting a pleasant Independence day Anniversary present to the Ghana country after conquering the continent last Saturday at youth level.
The Ghana U-20 side relied on Hearts of Oak's youngster Daniel Afriyie Barnieh's brace to humble the Hippos of Uganda 2-0 to clinch the 2021 edition of the African Youth Championship, winning it for the fourth time.
Coincidentally, on that same day, the country honoured it 64th Independence Day Anniversary in the capital, Accra, an event which didn't last for over an hour
The entire contingent of the team led by the team's Management Committee Chairman Mr. Randy Abbey arrived in the country at 1600GMT last Friday and were received warmly by the Minister alongside GHALCA Chairman Mr. Kudjoe Fianoo and other dignitaries.
In spite of this, the Sports Minister in his address congratulated the boys for their immense contribution to the nation and disclosed winning the Championship is the perfect gift they can give to the country on such memorable day.
Also, Hon. Mustapha Ussif added by saying the President, H.E Nana Akuffo Addo feels very elated after that glorious triumph and can't wait to welcome them at the Jubilee House in the coming days. He said;
"On behalf of his excellency the president and the people I welcome you and congratulate you for lifting the flag of Ghana high on the global map."
“Three weeks ago, you left this country empty-handed but today you have returned with a trophy and gold medals. This is a befitting Independence Anniversary gift."
“The President is so proud and excited about what you have done and he can’t wait to receive you at the Jubilee House”, the Minister concluded.
