Asante Kotoko SC CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah has given his words on the future of Mariano Barreto and has stated his stay will depend on his general performance at the end of the season.

The Portuguese gaffer steeped in early this year  taking over from Maxwell Konadu- who left the club in December last year due to poor performance.

The 'Kum Apem' lads became huge favourites and were leading the GPL at some point when the ex- Black Stars coach took over but lost the title in the course to their bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak and is also currently in the quarter final of the FA Cup.
There has been rumors of Barreto leaving the club having recently had inward problems with some of the players especially his strikers always questioning their inability to deliver in games.
The Phar Rangers bankroller has stated, they will for now allow him to continue with his work since the league cup is still ongoing and his future will depend on how he will fare in the second elite competition in the country. He told Asempa FM in Accra;
“For us, we have a contract with him [Mariano Barreto] and he just spent just six months with us and he is playing in the MTN FA Cup so let us hold for him at the moment."
“At the end of the season, we will access him and if he has not met our target, we will take a decision."
However, speculations state Great Olympics coach Annor Walker is a strong candidate to take over the job should the Portuguese leave so as French gaffer Romain Folz.
