Newly-signed Hearts of Oak midfielder Gladson Awako has urged the supporters of the club to lower their expectations heading into the CAF Champions League but is very optimistic they will reach the money zone.

The highly-rated midfielder joined the 'Phobians' this summer on a two year deal from their regional rivals Great Olympics where he was outstanding in the just ended season.

The 30 year old has already commenced preseason with his new club and are currently preparing vigorously for the upcoming 2021/22 season of which they will have to compete in both the league and Champions League.

Speaking to JoySports, the ex- TP Mazembe star has asked all the Phobia fraternity to lower their expectations to relieve pressure on the players but assured they will offer all they could to cruise into the Group Stages. He said;

“They [Hearts fans] shouldn’t expect too much. We’ll do our best, we’ll do what we can to get to the money zone which won’t be easy."

“But I know with the team, the management and support from the board chairman I know, we’ll do our best to get to the money zone."

“So they shouldn’t expect too much that we’ll go and win the trophy. They should limit the expectation, which will take some pressure off the team." He concluded

The former Africa conquerors will travel to play Guinean side Club Industriel de Kamsar on September 12, in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
