The prolific striker has confirmed his imminent switch to the Ghanaian top-flight league heavyweights for the upcoming season.

Uganda international Steven Mukwala says he is in advanced talks with Asante Kotoko over a possible switch from URA FC in the ongoing transfer window.

The 22-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Porcupine Warriors over a three-year deal subject to a mandatory medical examination to the two-time CAF Champions League title holders.

According to Mukwala, he will be joining the Kumasi-based club for preseason as his parent club, URA FC are set to conclude negotiations with Asante Kotoko over his transfer.

"I have reached personal terms with Asante Kotoko and will be joining Asante Kotoko for preseason," Mukwala told Oyerepa FM

"It's almost a done deal, it has left with both clubs to conclude days to hand me the green light to move to Ghana"

Asante Kotoko commenced negotiations with URA FC for Mukwala as Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has hinted to beef up his frontline options with the acquisition of the prolific frontman as he is ready to offload some dead wood attackers in their folds in order to make room for the formation of vulnerable attacking upfront.

In 2019, Mukwala was loaned at Maroons FC for the new season 2019-2020 where he has scored 13 goals in 22 matches to clinch the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League golden boot award.

He ended the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season as the top scorer of Uganda Rivers Authority (URA FC) after notching fourteen (14) goals in 24 matches.

Mukwala will become the third Ugandan international to play for Asante Kotoko after Joseph Ochaya and George Abege.

He is currently a member of the senior national team of Uganda and among the players invited for 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers double-header against Rwanda this month.

Asante Kotoko have already signed eight players namely Clinton Opoku, Richmond Lamptey, Maxwell Agyemang, Samuel Boateng, Isaac Oppong, Richard Boadu, Augustine Agyapong and Samuel Appiah.
