Newly-signed Asante Kotoko midfielder, Richard Boadu has heaped praises on his  coach who handled him during his time in juvenile football and is very elated with his progression so far as a footballer.

The combative midfielder completed a sensational move to Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko SC few days ago from Medeama SC after an impressive three year stint in Tarkwa.

Richard Boadu started from Top Rankers FC, a colts club in Buokrom, Kumasi headed by coach Musah which has been in existence since 1990.
The 23 year old started as a right back but states he was deployed to the defensive midfielder position at a certain point by Coach Musah at Top Rankers FC and has been playing at that role since then, reason he's developed interest in wearing the number 6 jersey seeing it as his luckiest number in the game.
"I was spotted on the number 2 position during my young stages and I was groomed by my colts coach. He one day asked me to play 6 position in the absence of the player who was supposed to be in that position.'
' I took on jersey number 6and I had a tremendous performance on that day. Since then, whenever I put on that jersey number 6, I always perform good but before that, I was wearing jersey number 14. He told the Kotoko media team.'
“There is some spirit in the jersey number 6 that helps me to perform well. Many may ask ‘do we have some particular jersey number that helps one to perform?’
“I always pray for favour from God upon that jersey. I can sometimes play whilst I feel like not me.” He told the Kotoko media team.
Richard Boadu, 23, since joining the Porcupine Warriors has commenced preseason already as he look to strive hard to become a mainstay in the team heading into the 2021/22 season.
