Former Ghana and Great Olympics striker, Paa Joe Kumah has ferociously alleged that Manuel Junior Agogo was sacked from Apollon Limassol.

According to him Agogo was axed from the club due to constant use of drugs and not because of any troubling leg injury.

"I was in the same city with him. A management member must have see him using drugs always. The drugs were too much. I was there, so they had to pay the rest of the money since his contract had not expired. That is why he left Apollon, Kumah made this serious allegation on SVTV.

Agogo was given a mouthwatering USD$1m per year deal by Apollon Limassol.

He joined the Cypriot club in 2009 after ending his stay at Egyptian club, Zamalek after months of unpaid wages.

Agogo was called up to the Ghana national team for the 2008 AFCON. He was Ghana's top scorer in the competition and the fifth highest scorer overall.

He scored twelve goals in twenty-seven matches for the Black Stars between 2006 and 2009.

Agogo suffered a stroke in 2015 and died in London in August 2019, aged 40.
