If most Kotoko fans are being honest, unless they take a keen interest in Ghana’s Division Two League, not many had heard of Isaac Oppong before his arrival at the club.

Against Dreams FC, Bechem United and Bibiani Goldstars, everyone finally got to see what all of the fuss was about as the former Bactero Sassana FC winger. The teenage sensation has been directly involved in four of the six goals scored by the Kumasi club in three games- scoring two in the process.

Arriving at a big club and with no experience at Ghana’s premier division, as is dealing with pressure of playing for Kotoko, yet the highest compliment one can give to Isaac Oppong is to admit that he instantly looked like he belonged to the team.

Issac Oppong's status as a prodigal talent has been no secret for the past couple of weeks; the question has been whether he'd be able to fulfil that overwhelming potential.

Well, at just 18 years of age, the young creative talent is already looking an untouchable force on the pitch and is only improving with each passing minute of match action.

The Sunyani 'Neymar' as he is affectionately known by his fans' season thus far has consisted of two substitute appearances and a start in Kotoko's first three games.

Oppong is naturally right-footed but is capable of playing on either wing and there is clearly huge potential, albeit he still has a bit of maturing physically to do. He relishes one-on-one battles with opposing defenders.

The way in which Oppong has started the 2021/22 campaign not only further pushes him into Prosper Narteh Ogum's sights as an option, but forces the Kotoko boss' hand in his team selection.

The forward has been sensational so far this season and is, without a doubt, one of Kotoko's most potent attacking threats with his smooth feet, smiley and determined demeanour, and generally destructive ability- something rarely said about someone who is just 18 years of age.

His movement is another highlight of his, using this surge in behind with superbly timed runs and find space infield. He’s noted for his sublime dribbling abilities and strength despite his age.

The demands placed upon youngsters – both technical and mental – are enormous, requiring both immense talent and bottomless self-belief to allow such fledglings to establish themselves.

Isaac Oppong possesses both in abundance. His temperament is outstanding; moreover, he plays with a maturity that belies his tender years. Improving all the time, with the right technical guidance and tutelage, he could go on to become one of Ghana’s leading footballers.
