The 18 year old joined the Giallorossis early this year from EurAfrica Academy in Ghana, and has since become a revelation in the Italian capital having netted six goals in five matches for the Roma U-19 side in the Primavera.

His consistent and stellar display impressed the first team gaffer Jose Mourinho, who quickly handed him a call up into the senior team and made his debut in their 2-1 triumph over Cagliari Calcio away from home.

However, on his third appearance for the Wolves first team, the elite gunman stole the show after coming off the bench to struck twice to aid AS Roma humble Genoa by 2-0 at the Olympico leaving him at front pages of the top newspapers and tabloids in the country.

Afena-Gyan just recently was handed Ghana call up to feature in the World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa but turned down the opportunity seeing it as too early.

In an interview with Asempa FM in Accra, Asamoah Gyan has showered praises on the youngster and has tagged him as part of the future of the Ghana national team.

Also, the ex- Udinese and Sunderland striker added by saying his development is going on very well so he should be given more time to rise through the process without any rush to get him well gelled for the Black Stars. He said;

"He is a very good player, I have watched all his games he has played and I think he is the future for the Black Stars but we must admit that he is young and we must not rush him.

“Let us allow him to join the team at the right time. He has been impressive but rushing him into the Black Stars will not be helpful.

“I think he not joining the Black Stars was based on bad intension because I think he wants to develop himself and stay focused as well but I believe he will surely join the team at the right time with proper integration,” Asamoah Gyan added.
