Athletic Bilbao top marksman, Inaki Williams has revealed that he wants to make Ghanaians smile by playing football in Black Stars colours.

Williams, 28, announced his switch to Ghana from Spain on Tuesday, making him available for Black Stars selection in the upcoming friendly games and the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

In an exclusive interview on TV3, he stated that he loves Ghana and wants to make the fans smile.

“Ghana is here in my heart because I enjoy this country. I see my people, I see my parents. My parents are Ghanaians and I am a Ghanaian. I didn’t forget that my father moved from this country to Spain. I need to give Ghanaians something and that something is to play football and I need to make them smile when I play football,” he said.

“This moment is coming. I am going to work hard to raise the flag high. I am going to do everything for Black Stars and make all the people smile with me.”

“It [the team] represents all the people. All the kids have a dream to play for the Black Stars and when I have the opportunity, I will work hard for the children who will one day see me on TV and say ‘wow Inaki Williams is playing for Black Stars’,” he added.

Williams is expected to make his debut for the Black Stars in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double-header against Angola in September
