Accra Lions technical director, Ibrahim Tanko, admits that the Ghana Premier league isn't competitive because of mass player exodus.

Asante Kotoko won the Ghana Premier league (GPL) with sixty-seven points in the just ended season.

Player exodus has been a major problem of the GPL, with best performing lads leaving Ghana to join clubs outside the country mostly to seek greener pastures.
GPL top scorer Yaw Annor has signed for Egyptian giants Ismaily, Bechem United's marksman Augustine Okrah completes his move to Simba SC in Tanzania and Franck Etouga Mbella is reportedly on his way out of Asante Kotoko to Udinese in Italy and a host of other players have left the shores of the country after the 2021/22 season.
The Black Meteors gaffer, Tanko, insists that player sales affects the quality of the GPL each season, which has made the league less competitive.
"After every season our best players leave," Tanko told Starr FM.
"You can cite Shafiq, Lomotey, Diawusi Taylor, Augustine Okra, and Yaw Annor as examples. It's very difficult to convince them to stay because what they are going to earn there is more than what they are earning here.
"That's why we don't have a competitive league every season," he admitted
"If we can't keep the players because of the financial situation then definitely our league will stay the same because our best players are always leaving," he explained.
