Patrick Razak is reported to be interesting Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
The pacey diminutive winger Razak joined the Phobians at the start of the 2015/16 season and instantly became an integral member of the side with his fighting spirit, energy and ferocity on the flanks embodying his managers’ philosophy brilliantly.
As ever the intelligent winger was always seen setting the tone beautifully for his side for his splendid displays, pressing relentlessly and tracking back doggedly, as his physicality and pace unsettled opponents. He is believed to be the best or one of the best in his position in the domestic league.
He’s proved himself to be the man for the big occasion more than once. It was no surprise that he netted the crucial goal against Asante Kotoko in Kumasi a couple of months back. When Razak is focused and confident, there isn’t much out there to stop him.
His performance was so impressive throughout. Not only did he score, but he provided a constant outlet between the lines for the Phobians, refusing to stand still and always playing with his head up. It would be easy to pinpoint his almost telepathic relationship with Winful Cobbina as a factor in his performance, but his impact on the game was well beyond that.
Possessing searing pace, sublime dribbling abilities and strength, he’s is a hugely proposition for any defender to handle in a 1v1 situation.
Indeed, being so adept in this regard has positive ramifications for his teammates too, for he regularly gets double or triple teamed, which importantly creates space for teammates to utilise. His movement is another highlight of his, using this to surge in behind with superbly timed runs, find space or be instrumental in creating overloads.
With few months left on his contract with Hearts of Oak, it is easier to count the number of clubs both locally and abroad who wouldn’t want to sign him than those who have already tried to acquire him and the Kumasi club is no exception. He’s been an albatross on their neck and loves playing against them.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko are on rebuilding mission and have reportedly identified the Hearts winger as one who could help propel the club to greater heights and would not shudder breaking the bank to get him join them.
However, management of the club have been quick to squash the rumours that they are ready to break the bank for Patrick Razak but in this business, you just can’t predict what could happen in the next minute.
His contract situation is much in the air and that will seriously worry the club who wouldn’t to experience the departure of key players as was the case last season.
There will undoubtedly be a queue of suitors but can the club hold on to him?
