NC Special Cup Report: Aduana Stars 1-1 Asante Kotoko - Kotoko seal semi final berth with a vital away point

Aduana Stars invited Asante Kotoko to the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park at Dormaa for the last game of the Normalization Committee Special Competition to determine the two team who makes the semi finals from Zone A.

Asante Kotoko picked up a vital point at Dormaa in a pulsating 1-1 encounter that places them into the semi finals of the competition with goals coming from Emmanuel Gyamfi for the away team and Abdul Fatawu Rahman for the home side.

With high odds at stake in this encounter, the game gave out a thoroughly excellent display of quality in the early charges of the game with class and top notch ball distribution across the zip of the field from both sides to try find spaces in between.

Asante Kotoko had the urge on the 38th minutes with Emmanuel Gyamfi giving the game the only thing it had missed after connecting neatly to a sweet left footed cross by Abdul Fatawu Safiu outside the left side of Aduana Stars box to give Asante Kotoko the lead.

Aduana Stars had cause to worry about the goal they conceded and quickly made double incursions at goal which one resulting in the equalizer.

Samuel Bioh was set through one-on-one with Felix Annan by Noah Martey on the 42nd minute but the AFCON bound goalkeeper exhibited sheer class by reflexing the ball out for a corner kick.

The resultant kick gave Aduana Stars the equalizer through Abdul Fatawu Rahman on the 43rd minutes after Abdul Ganiu Ismael and Wahab Adams had failed to clear a headed pass from Caleb Amankwah for Abdul Rahman to latch on to bring the game back on level pegging.

In the second half, Asante Kotoko controlled every department of the game and had the likely opportunity to go in front again but had little clear chance to score.

Both teams threw in more attacking players but the first half result was enough to give both teams a point each at full time.

Asante Kotoko, with that result, book their place in the semi finals regardless of the result of Ashanti Gold's game against Eleven Wonders which is washed away by rain and expected to continue on Friday.
