MATCH REPORT: Ghana 0-1 Namibia - Black Stars suffer defeat ahead of AFCON 2019

Coach Kwasi Appiah and his charges tasted a defeat in an international friendly ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Brave Warriors of Namibia inflicted a 1-0 defeat on the Black Stars of Ghana at the Jebel Ali Sports Center of Excellence in Dubai on Sunday afternoon.

The Black Stars started the first department of the match on a high note but failed to score the opener as the Namibia fired the lead a minute after the half-hour mark.

A lone strike from Manfred Starke on the 31st minute helped the senior national team of Namibia to record a 1-0 victory over Ghana ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Winger Christian Atsu could have levelled the score for the Black Stars on stroke of halftime but he squandered a goal glaring opportunity which ended the first department in a 1-0 win in favor of the Namibians.

After the break, Coach Appiah substituted all his players who featured in the first half where Wakaso Mubarak, Kwadwo Asamoah, Thomas Partey and others were introduced.

Substitute Mubarak Wakaso wasted a penalty awarded to the Black Stars which could have helped his side to grab the equaliser in the early minutes of the second half.

Ghana tried their luck through Kwadwo Asamoah and Thomas Party but most of their strikes went wide.

A late header from Partey was cooled by the Namibian goalkeeper.
