BUDU’S CORNER: 3 Managers Who Could Replace Kim Grant At Hearts

The Ghanaian Premier League is only a wave of games old but already Hearts of Oak have parted ways with Kim Grant and have asked Edward Nii Odoom to act on an interim basis.

Edward Nii Odoom struck a forlorn figure in his technical area as he watched his toothless Hearts side lose 3-0 to Medeama SC at the Akoon Park on Sunday afternoon. Of course, not all the ire has been solely at Odoom; nor the club’s current predicament entirely his making.
But the obvious point is if Odoom cannot win supporters round with improved performances, then he will find it difficult at the helm.
Rumours are rife that the hierarchy of the club are already getting itching feet, with a managerial change supposedly imminent. Below we take a look at a handful of managers who could replace Kim Grant should Hearts decide to relieve Edward Nii Odoom of his duties.
Samuel Boadu
Since replacing Evans Adotey as the coach of Medeama, Samuel Boadu has gained a reputation as one of the best tactical brains in the league.
Boadu, already an icon at Medeama, clearly loves life at Tarkwa but you get the sense that in order to make the next step up in his managerial career, he needs a spell with a one of the big boys in the division.
Hearts, despite their current position, have oceans of potential and now bags of cash so they should do everything in power to lure Boadu to the club.
The ever-positive Boadu boasts strong man-management skills and a preference for an attacking approach, which could be music to the ears of toothless Hearts’ struggling strike-force.
David Duncan
Whenever a vacancy with one of the big names of Ghanaian football comes up, David Duncan is always mentioned among the usual suspects.
With several years of experience in management that has seen him work with Accra Great Olympics, Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko among others , the former national U-17 gaffer is enjoying a well-earned break, but he is sure to relish a chance to show his managerial abilities, should the Hearts job.
David Duncan will be a popular choice to fill the vacant position if fans’ forums are to be believed.
Ibrahim Tanko
The Black Meteors coach has been hotly linked with a move to Hearts of Oak on more than one occasion, and you can expect his name to once again be in the frame should Hearts decide to replace Kim Grant.
Ibrahim Tanko has never hidden his desire to coach any of the country’s football behemoths, but whether he has the heart and stomach to contain the pressure that comes with the Hearts job is open to debate.
It’s difficult to envision a vacancy opening up at any of the clubs anytime soon, and with this in mind, the former Black Stars forward may be forced to look lower down the league ladder… all the way to 18th…where Hearts currently reside.
