Asante Kotoko head coach Maxwell Konadu believes the young left-back is not good enough for the club's next season's campaign.

Defender Evans Owusu has been deemed surplus to requirements by the Porcupine Warriors ahead of the 2020/21 season.

The 22-year-old has been told to look elsewhere after failing to live up to expectation during the truncated 2019/20 Ghana Premier League.

He was loaned out to Karela United by the Asante Kotoko but his dream of playing for the Aiyinase-based club hit snag following the cancellation of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to Pure FM, Owusu was removed from the players of Asante Kotoko official WhatsApp platform after being deemed surplus to requirements by the club's head coach.

Owusu joined the Ghana Premier League powerhouse from lower-tier side Charity Stars FC in 2018.

A close source to the 22-year-old left-back disclosed to kickgh.com that Owusu has been told by Coach Maxwell Konadu that he is not in his plans for the upcoming season.

"It's true that Coach Konadu has told them [players' leadership] to remove him from their WhatsApp platform because he is not part of his plans for next season," the source to the player told Kickgh.com

Owusu absent from Asante Kotoko campaign last term with no appearance for the club in any competition.

Kickgh.com understands that the former Ghana U20 defender will be farmed out to a fellow Premiership side or end his contract at Asante Kotoko by mutual consent.
