The agent of Asante Kotoko in-form marksman Kwame Opoku has branded as ''untrue'' reports in the local media that claimed his client has requested for contract termination in favour of a move to interested clubs abroad.
Reports in the local media have gained currency that the former Nkoranza Warriors sharpshooter has now become a want-away man in the fold of the Reds and has written to management to have his current deal recinded in order to move freely to suitors at the expense of the ongoing league season.
However, his representative, Leslie Kuku Bartels has swiftly debunked the reportage whiles confirming offers from admirers on his client.
He added that the 21-year-old key goal scoring appliance of the Porcupine Warriors has three more years contract to exhaust at the Kumasi-based club, hence their sole prerogative to cash in on him to interested clubs anytime they wish.
''It's not true we have written to Kotoko asking for termination of contract,'' Bartels was left blowing fuse in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM
''Though there has been offers for Kwame Opoku but they (Kotoko) have the right to sell or not. I am surprised at hearing news of the player wanting to leave the club.''
He added: ''He (Kwame Opoku) has a three-year contract with Kotoko and he is happy at the club. To the best of my knowledge whatever the club has to do for him, they have.''
Opoku joined Asante Kotoko from Nkoranza Warriors in the summer this term and has distinguished himself in coach Johnson Smith's setup following his predatory acumen in front of goal.
The Black Stars of Ghana invitee for the 2021 AFCON qualifiers has so far netted 11 goals for Asante Kotoko in both the domestic and Caf inter-club league competitions this season.
