MATCH REPORT: Elmina Sharks lash Eleven Wonders to end their six-game winless run Featured

Elmina Sharks started with most of their key players in the line up with first choice goalie Lord Bawa Martey reclaiming his spot from Michael Blankson who has been in the post in their last three matches.


However, Eleven Wonders also missed the service of skipper and dependable defender Rashid Alhassan who was replaced by Kwayie Simms in the starting XI.

The home team with an explosive start breaking the deadlock of the game in just two minutes from kickoff through Benjamin Boateng who pounced on a loose clearance to shoot into the top corner to hand his side the lead. 
Just two minutes from getting the first, Benjamin Boateng again, marked his brace after collecting a delicious pass to go round goalkeeper Abdulai Ibrahim to plot into the net to make it 2-0 for the host in less than five minutes from action.
Eleven Wonders with a free kick right in front of the centre circle but Geoffrey Amponsah's delivery was a poor one resulting to a goalkick.
Injury forces the home team to effect their first substitution of the game after midfielder John Nyamekye was unable to continue the game with his place taking by Clenn Afful, who started against Dreams FC last week.
The visitors drove forward in a quest to pull one back, Amos Frimpong crosses to Felix Akolor but his glorious chance but Bawa Martey denied with his left leg.
Eleven Wonders again with another incursion, Amos Frimpong combines nicely Ganiu Abass to send a decent cross which was followed up by Alex Asamoah but it misses the goal by few inches.
The travelers nearly got back on level after the Elmina Sharks goalkeeper failed to parry out an inswinger which nearly got into the net but a timed challenge from captain Ishmael Hammond ensured their lead.
It has been Eleven Wonders all over after going down with Ganiu Abass sumptuously nutmegging an opposition player but his effort was a feeble one.
Eleven Wonders gets on the scoresheet on the 37th minute through Alex Asamoah who tapped into the net from Felix Akolor's cross but was ruled out for a controversial offside.
In the second half, Elmina Sharks with the first chance after Clenn Afful sends a good cross which nearly caused an own goal after a miss communication from Tetteh Nortey and his goalkeeper Abdulai Ibrahim.
The travellers finally pulled one back on the 54th minute. Ganiu Abass with a great first touch from Felix Akolor's pass, turns and then fired into the net to make it 2-1. Game on!
Referee Charles Bulu instilling his authority on the game preventing any form of time wasting on the part of the hosts having showed both Isaac Donkor and Suraj Ibrahim the yellow card for same offence.
Eleven Wonders came so close on getting the equaliser after Prince Okraku found Ganiu Abass whose outside the box strike went off the crossbar and looked like had crossed the line but just won't stand.
Elmina Sharks serge forward in search for their third, Kingsley Braye finds Benjamin Boateng who sent in a ground in swinger to locate James Bissue but goalkeeper Abdulai comes to interfere in that one.
The 'Sure Wonder' lads attacking with so much intent and purpose doing all they could to get the equaliser after Amos Frimpong swung in a long one to locate Prince Okraku but Bawa Martey jumps high to gather that one. 
Referee Charles Bulu after four minutes of additional time blew his whistle to bring proceedings to an end.
Elmina Sharks stops Eleven Wonders two game winning streak, to halt their awful six game winless run. They have now moved from the relegation zone to the 13th position on the league standing with 34 points.
