Former Head coach of the giants Asante Kotoko, Maxwell Konadu has stated categorically clear that, the club lost the league to Hearts of Oak because of an appalling disunity that exist in the club of which they failed to solve earlier.

The ex- Black Stars B gaffer, kicked the Porcupine Warriors off in the 2020/21 season but only to be jettisoned after less than two months since the beginning of the new season, with coach Johnson Smith taking over.

Early this year, Portuguese gaffer, Mariano Barreto stepped in as his replacement and guided the team throughout the campaign.
The 'Kum Apem' outfit at a point took a dominant advantage on the championship leading rivals Hearts of Oak by 7 points but couldn't held on and eventually lost the title to them in the end.
Talking to Nhyira FM in Kumasi, Maxwell Konadu stated Asante Kotoko took charge and had everything to win the league at some point but lost it because the players, coaches and others closer to the team weren't united.
'Lack of unity cost Kotoko the league. There was no unity among the players, technical team and all others who matter at the club.'
The Reds ended their campaign with no trophy, having also suffered elimination against Berekum Chelsea in the quarter final of the MTN FA Cup.
