What's that? The Porcupine Warriors have got another electrifying teenager to get excited about?

Next up to join Asante Kotoko after the exploits of Matthew Anim-Cudjoe is 18-year-old Clinton Opoku. The teenager is joining the Kumasi club from lower-tier side Phar Rangers. He's already made a few senior appearances, and big things are expected of the teenager.

If you don't know who he is, take notes, because here are six things you need to know about Opoku.

Plays With a Maturity Beyond His Years

He is just 18 but the talented teenager plays with a tremendous amount of maturity, constantly looking to harry and press his opponents when out of possession, while he will look to make penetrating runs forward or bring his teammates into the game when on the ball. Opoku has astonishing technical ability and can easily get past his man with a clever piece of skill, but he has the awareness to know when it is most appropriate.

Perhaps what is most impressive is that he has an understanding of when to press and when to drop off. Despite his tender age, he is a player that certainly does not shy away from taking responsibility and he has proven to be a valuable first-team member.

Comparisons to Lionel Messi are Never Far Away

Nicknamed 'Asuom Messi', Opoku admits that he likes to spend a lot of time watching Lionel Messi, to whom he has constantly been compared because of his size and ability with the ball at his feet.

"I hear that all the time," Opoku told of the comparisons to Messi. "I recognise that we are the same types."

He's Incredibly Versatile

Primarily an attacking midfielder, Opoku is versatile enough that he could feature almost anywhere in attack.

He is comfortable out on either wing, where he loves to use his pace and dribbling skills to dominate defenders, but he is also capable of dropping deeper in midfield.

His future is certainly further up the field, but Opoku versatility will help him earn plenty of opportunities in the team.

He's No Stranger to Playing Above His Age Group

Despite being just 16, Opoku is already making a splash on the senior game, but playing against players older than him has never been a problem.

He was one of the first names to appear on the coach of Phar Rangers' team sheet on a regular basis and never disappointed anytime he was thrown on the pitch.

What are his strengths?

Opoku's main strength is his passing along with the skills he possesses on the ball. Remember, this kid has played against kids older to him for all his life and has been able to evade them with ease.

Most of this is thanks to his ingenious low centre of gravity and the fact that he can play with both his feet.

But He's Definitely Not Perfect

For all his talent, Reyna is clearly still a work in progress. The demands placed upon youngsters – both technical and mental – are enormous, requiring both immense talent and bottomless self-belief to allow such fledglings to establish themselves.

He still has plenty of time to improve.
