Accra Hearts of Oak are set to announce the capture of Congolese attacking midfielder Linda Mtange Don in the coming days.

The attacking midfielder has reportedly impressed the technical handlers of the club after days of training with the FA Cup champions.

Prior to his arrival in Ghana, he had previously played for Congolese top-flight league outfit AS Dauphin Noir where he captained during their last season's campaign but had earlier played for FC Flambeau Raha

So, here are six things you should know about Don ahead of what could be a meteoric rise in the game.
Lionel Messi is his idol
The Argentine is the greatest player of his generation, with a wealth of admirers worldwide sporting his name on the back of their replica shirts. But it's not only sports fans who admire the art of Messi's game, plenty of professional footballers do too.
Hearts’ new recruit Linda Mtange Don is the latest professional footballer to profess his admiration for the little magician.
His agility and quick footwork could be compared to his hero Lionel Messi, with Don claiming the Argentine has always been his favourite.
He is called Linda but not a female
When I heard from the radio that the Phobians were about signing a player named Linda, my second thought, was, “Hey, did he say Linda?” Isn’t that a girl’s name? Who would name a boy “Linda?” What is this?
He won’t be the first male professional footballer to bear a girl’s name though. The Netherlands had Vurnom San Benito Anita. John. There is also Joyce Lomalisa Mutambala of DR Congo (prolyl, it is national thingy), and Daniel Lee Rose of England among several other sportsmen.
He uses his intelligence to his advantage
While not the kind of player to pull out a 40-yard pass, Don thrives on smaller, subtler plays to leave opponents in the mud. The 20-year-old is a huge fan of the look one way, pass another passes and regularly goes to that play when under pressure. He uses his head first before his body.
He Has All the Attributes to Go Right to the Very Top
Perhaps the most exciting thing about Don is that he is already a very complete attacking player.
While he prefers to play through the centre, he has all the attributes to be a real threat on either flank as well. It is his mix of technical ability as well as pace that makes him such a difficult opponent to play against.
Sure, he isn't exactly imposing at the moment, but still only 20, he will have plenty of time to improve his physique.
International recognition
His impressive performances for Dauphin Noir didn’t go unnoticed as he was rewarded with a call-up into the DR Congo U20 that participated in the Central Zone (UNIFFAC) that participated in the Central zone qualifiers held in Equatorial Guinea in 2021. He scored against Cameroon in the opening game. Not only did his goal cancelled out Milla’s earlier strike for Cameroon, it was also the point the DR Congo could pick at the tournament as they lost their subsequent game against neighbours Congo.
Two Other Clubs Were Chasing After Him
The Phobians might have won the race to sign the talented midfielder but they had to fend off competition from Tanzanian’s Polisi Tanzania FC and the DRC’s AS Maniema Union.
“I was been chased by Polisi Tanzania FC and Maniema Union but I opted for Hearts due to the club’s rich history on the continent.” Don told
