West African Football Academy shared spoils with Asante Kotoko in the match-day one of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors managed to hold the Sogakope-based club to a 1-1 draw at the RedBull Arena.

The Academy boys mounted pressure on the defense of Kotoko to register the opener in the early minutes of the game.

Ghana U17 star Aminu Mohammed opened the score for WAFA with a beautiful free-kick in the third minute of the game.

Richard Danso could have doubled the lead for the homesters before the quarters of the game but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Felix Annan.

Kotoko gained possession as their two wingers Emmanuel Gyamfi and Sarfo Gyamfi dazzle the flanks as a pass to Yakubu Mohammed handed them the leveller.

Bulky-striker Yakubu Mohammed restored the parity with a cool finish in the 18th minute of the game.

Danso and Aminu continued tormenting the back line of the visitors with fearsome attacks as one of their strikes was ruled offside by Referee Charles Bulu.

The Porcupines Warriors defenders prevented the attackers of WAFA with several strong tackles and blocks to end the first half in a one-all draw.

Back from the break, the inclusion of Mawuli Osei helped Kotoko to mount pressure on the homester but they failed to double the lead.

Both sides wasted the set-pieces awarded to them in the second half of the game as the entire duration ended in 1-1 draw.
