Liberty Professionals suffered a painful home defeat in their first match of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.
 
West African Football Academy recorded a 3-1 away win over Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindolf Park in Dansoman.
 
The Academy boys started the match on a good note as they piled much pressure on Liberty Professionals in the early minutes.
 
Youngster Daniel Lomotey nearly opened the floodgate for visitors in the tenth minutes of the game but his shot went off target.
 
Lanky midfielder Simon Zibo with his partners in the middle Tamimu Muntari and Brite Andoh managed to hold coach charges to prevent them from scoring.
 
Aminu Mohammed wasted a chances which could have got his side the lead in the 25th minute of the game.
 
Goalkeeper Ganiyu Shaibu made brilliant saves to prevent the Scientific soccer lads from conceding as the first department of the match ended in a scoreless draw.
 
After the break, WAFA continued to pile pressure on the home side as they registered the opener after five minutes.
 
Black Starlets striker Aminu Mohammed fired the opener for the Academy boys after connecting a cross from Lomotey in the 50th minute of the game.
 
Liberty Professionals tried to possess the game with the Michael Ampadu and Ernest Papa Arko who were introduced in the second half but their efforts were not enough as the visitors doubled the lead.
 
Substitute Richard Danso doubled the lead for WAFA with stupendous strike in the 65th minute of the game.
 
With a minute to end the game, Ghana youth star Charles Boateng made it 3-0 before Brite Andoh pulled one back in the dying embers of the game.
