MATCH REPORT: Kotoko share spoils with Ashgold in JA Kuffour Cup

The Kum Apem lads were held to a one-all draw by the Obuasi-based club in the John Agyenkum Kuffour Cup on Sunday evening.

Ashanti Gold SC managed to hold Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 stalemate at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

The Porcupine Warriors started the match on a good note as header from Amos Frimpong was fisted out by goalkeeper Frank Boateng in the early minutes of the match.

On the nineteenth minute, Kotoko nearly opened the score but a strike from Emmanuel Gyamfi was neatly cleared by substitute Habib Mohammed.

Ivorian International Richard Ella Djodi had a goal glaring opportunity to hand the Miners the opener but his shot was saved by the woodwork on the 23rd minute of the game.

Back from the break, Coach Akonnor's charges piled pressure on the visitors to fetch the opener on the 58th minute.

Winger Emmanuel Gyamfi snatched the lead with an audacious long range shot to beat goalkeeper Frank Boateng and the Ashgold back line.

Ivorian import Richard Ella Djodi grabbed the equaliser with a stunning strike outside the 18-yard box on the 71st minute.

The match was balanced in the last fifteen minute of the match as the two teams tormented each other but failed to score as the entire 90 minutes ended in a one-all draw.

No penalties was played after thirty minutes of extra time.
