NC Special Cup Report: Asante Kotoko 1-0 Eleven Wonders - Porcupine Warriors keep qualification hopes alive

Asante Kotoko grabbed a sole winner against Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in the Normization Committee Special Competition Match Day 10.

A second half spot kick goal by defender Ismail Abdul Ganiyu was enough to seal a precious victory for the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi.
In a difficult first half where little or no incursions at all where made by both sides, the game was left to be tactical and more technical as both sides needed the win at all cost leaving the game to be compact.
Asante Kotoko had shots misfired off goal in attempts to steal a goal before half time but goalkeeper Alhassan Tahidu stopped every single shot targeted at him.
With little pace and fluidity in the second half as the game remained tactical, Asante Kotoko had every arsenal behind the ball to get a win willy-nilly to ensure their qualification to the next round of the competition.
Songne Yacouba and Stephen Nyarko got introduced into the game for Jordan Opoku and Abdul Fatawu Safiu by Asante Kotoko which added impetus to their attack.
The home side won a penalty kick after a player was brought down in the box which was neatly converted by Ismail Abdul Safiu on the 76th minutes.
The victory puts Asante Kotoko close behind Medeama SC on the league log and both sides will battle for supremacy in their next game in the competition.
