Competing With Mensah And Sowah Has Made Me A Better Goalkeeper - Ayi

Agile Accra Hearts of Oak shot-stopper, Richmond Ayi says battling with experienced goalkeepers, Ben Mensah and Ernest Sowah for Hearts’ No.1 shirt has brought out the best in him thus making him a better goalkeeper.

Ayi, who joined the Phobians months ago from West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) and previously played for Techiman City believes challenging Mensah and Sowah for the No. 1 spot was a motivation rather than a deterrent.

“I am always convinced in my convictions, testing myself against the best is something which inspires me and brings out the best in me Mensah and Sowah are very experienced goalkeepers. They’ve seen it all so the thought of working with them in the same environment is enough motivation. Their presence inspires me to give my all anytime I step on the pitch. Competing with them has made me a better goalkeeper.” He told kickgh.com after their triumph over Elmina Sharks on Sunday

“We work in a very close environment on a daily basis. We always tend to get on really well and try to push each other. At a club like Hearts, it’s how you can contribute to the team and not personal glory.”

Richmond Ayi’s performances for the Phobians in the Normalisation Committee’s Special Competition rates him among the best goalkeepers in the competition.
