GPL Team of the Week; Check the players who made it come your way with the eleven performing players on Match Day 5 of the Ghana Premier League.
In a 3-2-3-2 formation, below are the starting XI of our team;
GK- Peter Sarkodie (Dreams FC); His heroics on Sunday at the Theatre of Dreams guarded Dreams FC to run away with all three points against Medeama SC.
He stopped every single ball that came on him. He actually stood between Medeama SC and goal and ended winning our player of the week and Man of The Match in that game.
CB- Ahmed Adams (Berekum Chelsea): He is continuing to use his experience in the local game so well to guide Berekum Chelsea in the season.
On Saturday at the Len Clay Sports Stadium, in a relatively boring game, Ahmed Adams ensured his side remained safe after taking the lead with a solid and control in defense for Berekum Chelsea.
LCB- Seth Sowah (Bechem United): The tall lanky center back appeared well composed in ensuring Bechem United amassed maximum points at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park at Bechem.
In the second half where Eleven Wonders grew in confidence and where moving in attack through Kwadwo Asamoah and Abdul Mugeez, Seth Sowah produced a masterful defending to block every threat that came on his side.
RCB- Michael Sefah (Liberty Professionals): Michael Sefah gave Liberty Professionals the opener against Hearts of Oak at the Carl Rheindorf Park.
Even though his side lost by 2-1, he was all right when with the ball on the flanks and set on the tone for Liberty Professionals' attack.
LDM- Emmanuel Nettey (Hearts of Oak): Probably the messiah for Hearts of Oak now. He produced a barrier in front of the back four of Hearts of Oak and rendered Liberty Professionals' attack also useless after taking the lead in the first minute.
Winning the Man Of The Match award after the game is a testament to the kind of performance he displayed for the "Phobians".
RDM- Sadick Alhassan (Karela United): Even though his side had a disappointing results against King Faisal at the Akoon Park at Tarkwa, he will look back and relish more of such performance from himself.
He dictated the pace and provided the path on which his side moved in attack throughout the game. He won the Man of The Match in that stalemate encounter.
LM- Naby Laye Keita (Asante Kotoko): Naby Keita Laye was the best player on the field of play when Asante Kotoko invited Ebusua Dwarfs at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for their Match Day 5 encounter.
Both goals scored by Asante Kotoko were moves instigated by the Guinean who should have been on the score sheet early in the game. He was par excellent on Sunday.
CM- Elvis Opoku (Aduana Stars): It was a super display of brilliance from the experienced midfielder. Aduana Stars' win against Legon Cities FC at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park was wholely borne out from Elvis Opoku. Him winning the Man Of The Match award well deserved even with scoring.
RM- Sulley Ibrahim (Great Olympics): A brilliant young chap who gives his side width and pace on the flanks was on his day on Sunday at the Nduom Sports Complex where Elmina Sharks drew 1-1 with Great Olympics.
He got the equalizer for Great Olympics in a game he single handedly carried his side on his shoulders to snatch a point back to Accra. He won the Man of The Match Award with his equalizer.
CF- Yahaya Mohammed (Aduana Stars): Yahaya Mohammed continues to prove his strength at home and he was on the score sheet for Aduana Stars over the weekend in their victory against Legon Cities FC. He thus extends his scoring tally to six in five games.
CF- Prince Adu Kwabena (Bechem United): The 16-year-old scored the only goal for Bechem United in a game that looked to be difficult after Eleven Wonders had missed a penalty kick.
His finishing was a clear sign of a goal poacher as he latched onto a pass inside the box to beat the Elven Wonders goalkeeper. He is just behind Yahaya Mohammed on the scoring sheet with five goals.
