Competing With Acquah And Owusu Has Made Me A Better Goalkeeper- Ato Bilson

Agile WAFA shot-stopper, Prince Ato Bilson says battling with Ferdinand Sabi Acquah and Bolivar Sarfo Owusu for the club’s No.1 shirt has brought out the best in him thus making him a better goalkeeper.

Bilson, who joined the Sogakope club at a tender age believes challenging Sabi Acquah and Sarfo Owusu for the No. 1 spot was a motivation rather than a deterrent.

“I am always convinced in my convictions, testing myself against the best is something which inspires me and brings out the best in me. Acquah and Owusu are very good goalkeepers. The thought of working with them in the same environment is enough motivation. Their presence inspires me to give my all anytime I step on the pitch. Competing with them has made me a better goalkeeper.” He told kickgh.com after their stalemate with Asante Kotoko SC on Wednesday.

“We work in a very close environment on a daily basis. We always tend to get on really well and try to push each other. At a club like WAFA, its how you can contribute to the team and not personal glory.”

Having missed the early stages of the season due to injury, the 19-year-old netminder reclaimed his first-choice status in their 1-0 triumph over Great Olympics last Sunday and was in superb shape against Asante Kotoko on Wednesday.

His swashbuckling performances rate him among the best goalkeepers in the league.
