Maxwell Konadu explains why William Opoku Mensah was substituted in Ashgold game

The 47-year-old trainer has opened up on the reasons behind his decision to substitute the former Karela United talisman in their home draw with Ashanti Gold SC.

Asante Kotoko head coach, Maxwell Konadu has explained why he replaced William Opoku Mensah with Richard Arthur in the second half.
Opoku was substituted after missing a goal glaring opportunity which could have handed the Porcupine Warriors all the needed points at home against their regional rivals Ashanti Gold.
"He [William Opoku Mensah] was playing out of the instructions given to him. He was asked to play on the left side"
"We have monitored the Ashanti Gold side for a very long time.
"We knew they will make an error for us to register a goal, the chance came but we couldn't utilize it"
Opoku Mensah joined the Porcupine Warriors on a free transfer earlier this year.
He has made four appearances for Asante Kotoko in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
