Black Stars coach Otto Addo says he is unfazed by talk of his future despite leading Ghana to their fifth FIFA World Cup appearance following a tense victory over Comoros in Accra.
A first-half strike from Mohammed Kudus ensured Ghana sealed a 1–0 win to punch their ticket to the 2026 World Cup, set to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The result extended Addo’s record as the first coach in Ghana’s history to qualify the national team for consecutive World Cups, having guided them to Qatar 2022. Yet, his tenure remains a topic of debate, with critics citing inconsistency in the team’s performances.
Speaking to the Ghana FA’s official website before the crucial qualifier, the 49-year-old made clear that job security is not his concern.
“What happens after is not in my hands,” Addo said. “I hope that a lot of people, if we win, can go to America. We have to win this game. This is what we are looking at. If Ghanaians are happy, then we are happy.”
The draw for the 2026 World Cup group stage will take place on December 5, when Ghana will know their opponents for next year's showpiece.
